Small Town News

Bob Bennett and Orrin Hatch are in deep trouble in Utah, with Bennett about to be defeated. Here's what their constituents are focused on. Note that the main question wasn't about immigration or healthcare reform.

To see how Bennett and Hatch voted on a related issue, go to the bottom of this post.

ALOHA!!

BOB
I see Orrin Hatch has been in Congress for 33 years, since 1977. Here is an example of the this guys morality and common sense.

Check out the "nepotism" in Utah!
Hatch's son Scott is a named partner and registered lobbyist at Walker, Martin & Hatch LLC, a Washington lobbying firm. The firm was formed in 2001; the other two partners are Jack Martin, a staff aide to Senator Hatch for six years, and H. Laird Walker, who has been described as a close associate of the senator's.[11] In March 2003, the Los Angeles Times quoted Senator Hatch as saying that the firm was formed with his "personal encouragement" and that he saw no conflict of interest in championing issues that helped his son's clients.

Then here he goes on record as favoring polygamy ... Is the "POLY" voting block really that big or does he want a new wife?

"In 1998, Hatch, a descendant of polygamists, defended polygamy in a taped interview, saying that the Constitution was "ambiguous" on the issue.[9] He later stated that the Constitution was not ambiguous, that polygamy should remain illegal, and that polygamy was against the teachings of his church.

I see Bob Bennett has been in Congress since 1993 for 17 years, but if you add in his Dad, "Wallace", "service" back in the 1950s for 23 years then his family has controlled Utah politics for 40 years.

Here are all the "Committees" he is on ... The thing about "committees" is that every State has their own committees and departments as well, so you get DOUBLE policing of your rights. We have an Agriculture Dept for the State of Utah and one for the Feds. The same goes for all the other Departments and the Comittees and Subcommittees ... WOW! Yet there is no "fat" to trim at either end? Hummmm?????

ALOHA!!

Who knows better?

All of us who work we send our tax dollars all the way to Washington DC every day, every week, every month and every year. The TAX FOUNDATION says that Americans who work spend more on taxes than they do on food, clothing and shelter.

So who knows better? Who knows where all the potholes on my streets? Does Obama know? Does he care?

Who knows the flaws and problems I face when I go to my local hospital or if I call 911. Does Washington DC know best or are these "local issues".

Why do my tax dollars have to go all the way to Washington DC to a massive centralized government? I send $1 to Washington and I get $0.16 back in services. Meanwhile my own State is going broke and cutting services. At the Federal level "services" are expanding not contracting. With the "new" Financial Reform will come more new committees and departments to administer these "reforms". Same with the health care reforms.

I wonder what would happen if we just eliminated all those committees and departments in DC that duplicate the State and Local departments. I mean I do not see Orrin Hatch or Obama over here driving on my roads every day so how can they know best where my tax dollars are needed?
