Horror Show
Location: Broadway between 84th and 85th. For the Upper West Side, this is a fairly upscale-ish couple of blocks; directly across the street from this photo is Coach, Victoria's Secret, and Godiva Chocolate.
The white sign below the banner says, "Retail Space For Lease (After Halloween Of Course!)". So apparently the landlord was willing to sign a lease for less than three months -- and either throw in or allow the current renovations -- after which the space will become empty again.
This is a large, highly visible corner lot, with lots of pedestrian traffic and a subway stop one block away. I think it's been vacant for at least a year. The previous tenant was a family-owned clothing store that had been in business for decades. I bought lots of socks and underwear there.

Wonder what it's like in the other boroughs.
this market manipulation will only make the hit of reality worse...
What I'm wondering is how the hell GameStop found it worth the effort to have a new location only for a few months...
I'm wondering the same. Is there a blockbuster game launch scheduled then?
ALOHA !!
I recall the commercial real estate market in the 1980s got so bad in Houston, TX(where I was living then)that I heard ads on the radio stating that if you signed a year or more lease they would give you a free Mercedes!
Bank America has announced they will be closing 600 branches, so more space for GAMESTOP!
LOL...I'd rather have GAMESTOPs than BOAs. Maybe this is our next bubble!
Maybe we can have the government subsidize these hurting commercial owners and offer them an incentive to allow the homeless to have a place to sleep at night? That's what I call stimulus
I hate computer games and all the stuff... but maybe just because I´m a girl
I'll go there in order to realize by myself about that situation because I can't read the banner in the photo, that's the way I wanna see that.
ok now I'm scared hahaha I can't tell what the banner really said but I wonder why they putted in that way...
