Creepy

Via DB:

"Where would the world be if Americans did not live out their proclivity to consume everything that looks good, feels good, sounds good, tastes good? We provide a service for the rest of the world. If we were running a current account surplus or trade surplus, what would happen to economic growth worldwide and what would be the economic consequences? So I think we are doing our duty there."

-Richard Fisher, head of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, in a 2005 TV interview

ALOHA!!

I notice no American shoppers are busting down the doors at Barnes& Noble or Home Depot. Only PlayStation 3, X Box, flat screen TVs and thongs! The AMERICAN DREAM...

If you get this level of "irrational exuberance" for an X-Box imagine the violence if it was a race for food!

If we reverse Fisher's FEDSPEAK we get a more accurate translation:

"Where would America be if the Chinese did not live out their proclivity to produce everything that looks good, feels good, sounds good, tastes good? China provides a service for America. If China were running an account deficit or trade deficit, what would happen to America and what would be the political and monetary consequences? So I think China is doing its duty here."

We should build our malls like ziggurats. As the first rays of the sun hit its summit on the day after Thanksgiving, we can ritually trample some minimum wage schlub. Then the consumers, er, "citizens", can race up the steps for their shiny things.

This society is so fucked....

ALOHA!!

sglover ... very funny ... "their shiny things!"

Have we forgotten what Thanksgiving Day is about? Wasn't it the Pilgrims who left England seeking a new land free from "persecution"?

Where do prudent, hard-working and law abiding US citizens flee to in order to escape "persecution" from taxation without representation and the MONETARY THEATER of the US Fed????? Maybe someday Mexico will accept "fiscal refugees"!

Wow... I don't understand. People think I'm weird because I live in the country and never go to malls or box stores. That is total insanity. This is America!

A rather large fellow was stomped slightly at a Wal-Mart in Buffalo on the morning of BFF ( Black Friday Forever!!!)
It was good to see that the forces of political correctness have not totally quenched the madness which makes us great!

So, you're an investment banker with an MBA from Columbia.

See anything you invest in contained in these videos? Or do you invest in habitat for humanity?

It cannot succeed as a matter of fact, that's what I suppose.

This can't have effect in actual fact, that is exactly what I consider.

So, I do not really suppose this is likely to work.
