Filling In The Blanks
As the national intelligence officer for the Middle East, I was in charge of coordinating all of the intelligence community's assessments regarding Iraq; the first request I received from any administration policymaker for any such assessment was not until a year into the war.

This has been a "known quanity" by people who've wanted to know. There have even been a few, uneven, articles in major publications. The problem, like most of Bush's dismantling of America, is the scatter shot of the coverage. Daylight does not agree with this Administration but when the leaks come, they are overshadowed by the shrill counter swill.
Today we see Bush pushing Darfur. A "look this way" issue if there ever was one.
The article is a must read.
Even more troubling is the number of people who are either unaware of its existence or would simply dismiss it as an attack against the policies of the current administration brought about by someone with a grudge.
Worse yet is to think of the number of people targeted by this administration's '04 campaign of "fear" for whom this sort of thoughtful analysis is just not relevant.
