Accountability Watch

On January 23, John Boehner was interviewed by CNN's Andrea Koppel. From the transcript:
REP. JOHN BOEHNER (R-OH), HOUSE MINORITY LEADER: Well, no one is happy about how the war in Iraq is going. Clearly, the president is not happy. That's why he has offered a new strategy for securing Baghdad.

A lot of the other strategies have succeeded elsewhere around Iraq. But the problem has -- has been in Baghdad. I think the American people want us to win in Iraq. I think the president's plan has a chance of being successful.

KOPPEL: How long can you and your membership give the president and give the Iraqi military, before you say, you know what, you're not doing your job?

BOEHNER: I think it will be rather clear in the next 60 to 90 days as to whether this plan is going to work. And, again, that's why we need to have close oversight, so that we just don't look up 60 or 90 days from now and realize that -- that this plan is not working. We need to know, as we -- as we're -- we move through these benchmarks, that the Iraqis are doing what they have to do.
This coming Monday, ninety days will have passed. Here's what happened in Baghdad on Wednesday -- on top of the Green Zone attack and the rest of the recent carnage.

Does Boehner think that the surge is "working" and that "Iraqis are doing what they have to do"? Is CNN or anyone else planning to ask him?

Since we know how this charade will go for the next five or ten years, does it really matter?

January 20, 2009.

By then, Bush's FUBAR Adventure will be so bad, the stab in the back attack on whatever adults clean-up his truculent teenager act is a non-starter.

Follow the money, follow the money.

It cost we, the humble taxpayers, 2.5 Billion per week to continue this "adventure in democracy".

It earns the Bush "no bid contract cronies" 2.5 Billion per week.

When are we going to bottomline this baby and realize that the Bush crowd is 'jes' runnin' out the string' as long as they can? Taking us for every dime we've got while they can with their man in office.

Our military has been used as the advance guard for our oil corporations.....and as long as they can string it along and have us pay the way for their adventure, they most certainly will.

Why don't we just cut to the chase, ask the oil companies how much they want to settle this entire thing, let them finish their robbery, and save a few lives?
