For The Time Capsule

This really says it all, doesn't it?

And did a higher power inject this added improbability to make the contrast inescapable?

Sometime around the turn of the millennium, culturally this country got horizontal on a sofa with the remote control and a big bowl of chips on its chest. I think we just ordered out a dozen large pizzas with extra cheese.

I have never seen any pictures of the results of aerial bombings in Iraq. The air 'war' is invisible. I did see mention that over some recent period sorties have doubled. What the numbers are is probably secret. Then again, nobody cares.

All the Discover channel 'precision bombs' aside I'll hazard a guess based upon Juan Cole's guess that thousands of innocents, meaning non militia men, have been killed in bombings.

How targeting is done is anyones guess. I'll guess that air force and navy flyers have been told to run X number of sorties a day so targeting gets pretty haphazard.

The most famous bombing in Iraq and probably the most telling was the attack on the wedding party somewhere in the west.

Bombing civilians is an American specialty. Invented by the Germans, perfected by us. It's all so neat and clean and detached. I'll hazard a guess and say the US has killed one million non combatants with bombs since 1942.

What was that famous statement about tragedy being followed by farce? The photographer's career has followed the same arc (at least with respect to these points ;).

"History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce" is a paraphrase of Karl Marx's commentary on Louis Bonaparte's (Napoleon's nephew) coup and eventual declaration as Emperor Napoleon III.

"Hegel remarks somewhere that all great, world-historical facts and personages occur, as it were, twice. He has forgotten to add: the first time as tragedy, the second as farce."

That is the real horror of the past seven years and its impact on this country; the absurdity -- this empty-headed 'clash of cultures,' this vindictive violence, this colonialism with the mother country exploited along with the rest -- how could we have allowed anyone to die much less acquiesce to loss of liberty for this and not feel shame.

I am not responsible.

I have shouted 'unfair' and 'beware' from every window, from every street corner, and every bus stop.

I have lost friends, family and enemies for pointing out the bullshit right before their eyes.

I have lost opportunity and income for standing alone in the middle of the road and declaring my independence from the mainstream thought.

I have tried to shift everyone to see the fraud, waste, and theft by those in charge and the future peril it placed us in.

In the meantime I have watched most stand idle and I now have little strength left, very little voice, and very little means.

Now, the Republican candidates for POTUS attack our LEADER, the same who accused people like me of being UNAMERICAN and saying we should leave, just so they can lead a population of sadly ignorant people. I watch Americans agree with them AND praise them for being so BRAVE.

Am I am still standing in the street with little left to yell out my disapproval.

With my last breath I say FUCK America. FUCK you all to goddamn hell.

The bombing probably isn't discriminate. If you want to catch a glimpse oh how it's being carried out, there's some videos on Youtube.
