Flashback Friday

Have you seen any of these crude videos floating around the internet celebrating Iran's "good old days"? The themes are remarkably similar: a longing for the Peacock Throne, economic growth (building cranes and lots of traffic), and personal freedom (denim jackets! short skirts! dancing!). No mention, strangely, of ruinous corruption, SAVAK, etc. Guess there's no extant footage. I wouldn't be surprised if some of this stuff comes out of a West L.A. zip code with taxpayer dollars involved along the way:

Our government has tried about every trick in the book but there is no enthusiasm for attacking Iran. It will take another terrorsit attack to get the public to support it.

The truth of the matter is that Iran back in the 1970's was much better than under a theocracy that is openly sponsoring global terrorism today.
People had more freedom, although the Shah was an autocrat. But he still loved his people and wanted the best for his nation. Just 1 picture tells it all.

The revolution was a mistake because of its terrible outcome that the people of Iran are witnessing each day since 1979.

Looking back at Iran in the 1970s makes me think of the movie Gone With the Wind and how nice it was for some of the people prior to the start of the war between the states. It was nice for some, like those at the cocktail party, but not for most.

The Shah was a dictator put in power by the US after we overthrew a democratically elected government. If he loved his people more than his corruptness he would not have been overthrown.

Anyway, the chickens came home and Iran got the Ayatollah and his draconian rules which continue to this date. The USA may or may not be on the verge of destroying much of Iran depending on what the Bushmen can work out with the Putinese. Hopefully we do not do to Iran what Israel did to Lebanon but that seems to be our goal.

It is all sad for the Iranian people. But if they are to have a better life they have to find a way to do it for themselves.

Iran is just one example of the US putting a government in powder that would allow control of natural resources by US companies.

Ah for the good old days when the US made Central America safe for the United Fruit Company.

Imperialism is Imperialism
