Promises Kept, Apparently

Mark Steyn:
President Bush has, broadly speaking, governed as he said he would seven years ago.
I voted for Bush in 2000 based mainly on three broad promises he made, each of which I believed: to restore honor and decency to the White House; to build a highly competent administration marked by a rigorous, corporate style of management; and to have a restrained, non-interventionist foreign policy. Other issues important to me at the time were tax reform and social security reform.

Isn't it a little early for the historical (and hysterical) revisionism, Mark? If you're going to defend the manifestly indefensible, at least wait until after 2008 when this administration starts to fade from memory, and the suckers get a bit more receptive.

Actually, as epppie shows in this discussion of the 2001 inaugural he's actually been shockingly consistent.

No, it's not what he campaigned on, exactly, or what other wrote on his blank slate of a face. But we should have known a long time ago where this was going.... oh. Some of us did.
