Politicization Of The Military

While traveling during the past few days, I saw that Josh Marshall has been posting about this issue; this link provides some context.

It's difficult to overstate how serious this is. For some time, President Bush has used captive military audiences as backdrops for speeches in which he disparages or attempts to discredit political opponents, particularly in terms of Iraq and foreign policy. But RNC use of uniformed servicemen at smaller, purely political events appears to have started. I trust readers of this space realize how insidious and dangerous this is, so a long post replete with tragic examples from history isn't necessary.

This is something that must be monitored aggressively, and stopped before it goes any further.

I don't mind it. I mean really...people being screwed over by the Republican party showing up at their events with guns. That's a blessing.

Here's hoping for some crazy episodes.

This is against military regulations and very dangerous to our system of government no matter what political affiliation one might have. Please stay on this issue, CR. This pillaging of our country and its laws for political gain must stop.

It's almost as shameful as seeing George Bush in a flight suit.

Oh, oh. Is that the NSA at my door?

i can recall in the early 80's being informed by the Div O that "if you want your pay check on time, better vote republican." @ election time, it was a well worn statement.

now, however, we are well into fascism cloaked as the RNC. only took 5 yrs for the press and people to begin to notice the escalation.

A new book "America Fascism + God".

A snippet found:
"In early 1944, the New York Times asked Vice President Henry Wallace to, as Wallace noted, "write a piece answering the following questions: What is a fascist? How many fascists have we? How dangerous are they?" Wallace’s answer to those questions was published in the Times on April 9, 1944, at the height of the war against the Axis powers of Germany and Japan. See how much you think his statements apply to our society today: "The really dangerous American fascist," Wallace wrote, ". . . is the man who wants to do in the United States in an American way what Hitler did in Germany in a Prussian way. The American fascist would prefer not to use violence. His method is to poison the channels of public information. With a fascist the problem is never how best to present the truth to the public but how best to use the news to deceive the public into giving the fascist and his group more money or more power."

In his strongest indictment of the tide of fascism he saw rising in America, Wallace added, "They claim to be super-patriots, but they would destroy every liberty guaranteed by the Constitution. They demand free enterprise, but are the spokesmen for monopoly and vested interest. Their final objective toward which all their deceit is directed is to capture political power so that, using the power of the state and the power of the market simultaneously, they may keep the common man in eternal subjection."

I was on a email list for Zip Ziglar; a list I thought was based on his books and character development; but in an election year Zig exploded into political diatribe. He got so much mail he split the list into two, he assumed everyone thought the way he did. But it is no accident that the fanatical wing of a brand of religion partnered with the fanatical wing of the Republican party (who run it) and they will do and say anything because as Zig said, this is their time.

So how do we stop it? Where is our press on this issue?

Maybe the bloggers like you and Josh can keep the pressure on enough to slow or stop it.

Where is our press? Where is our Press? Hahahahahahaaahhahaha.

That's so naive at this stage of the game, it's almost sweet.

Sandra Day O'Connor Warns Of "Beginnings" Of Dictatorship... Slams Tom DeLay, Sen. John Cornyn...

Hopefully there are enough good people in public service, and that work for our government, that we'll make it through this very troubling and dangerous time, again.
