"I'm Going To Die, Aren't I?"

During the trial of Zacarias Moussaoui today, jurors listened to the tape of a 911 call made by a woman named Melissa Doi, who was trapped on the 83rd floor of the WTC south tower.

It's disturbing, but I believe very important to hear. The link is here; scroll down a bit to the center of the page.

Enraged at the madmen responsible for 9/11? You bet I am. I'm also furious with a feckless president who---while we stumble around in Iraq---has allowed Bin Laden an extra half-decade of life that this poor woman never had.

I cried listening to that.

I agree that it's important to hear, and I think doing so drives home exactly what happened on that day.

I also am critical of Bush and Co. However, I find your unrelenting harping on the admin. neither cunning nor realistic. You should be on the "Daily Kos'

What exactly do you propose we DO about Islamic terrorism, Iran, etc. I have only heard what NOT to do from you.

Prescott,

1) Eliminate Bin Ladin
2) Eliminate Zarqawi
3) Redeploy troops from Iraq
4) Abandon permanent military base development in Iraq
5) Work with international community to address Iran's desire for nucelar power for legitmate purposes
6) Address Iran's nuclear amibitions with invasive international monitoring by IAEA

YES!

MSJ, good work.

Prescott, it is completely reasonable to complain about enacted policy and not necessary to suggest actual policy. Though, suggesting changes in the policy-makers is something that TCR has done... Note who he voted for in 2004.

Now, to suggest actual policy. We need to redouble or retriple out efforts on al Qaeda now. Bin Laden says they are planning another attack (said so in January, I believe) and that is exactly the warnings he gave Europe in the past few years. He is usually true to his word, the bastard.

I suggest you watch "Dire warning on bin Laden" from 60 Minutes. (scroll down about a dozen clips or so)

Those have got to be the most quaint notions I have ever read. They don't want to enrich uranium for nuclear energy. They want to build a bomb, and protect themselves ala North Korea.

“Iran’s proven oil deposits have officially been put at over 132 billion barrels, 102 billion barrels of crude oil plus 30 billion barrels of liquids"

Why would Iran possibly need nuclear energy?

ADDICTION, anyone???

I assume they want to protect themselves from political/military pressure from the U.S., Israel and other Gulf Regional powers.

But threatening to rain fire on Israel, denying the holocaust, and agitating in Iraq is probably not the best course of action if, as a country, you are looking to be left alone by the U.S.

Sorry to go off topic.

No more quaint than the notion that we would be greeted, with flowers, as liberators in Iraq or, similarly, that the Iranian pro-American youth will rise up if we bomb the hell out of Iran to oust the radical leadership or that we can just get away with dropping a couple of tactical nuclear weapons on a sovereign nation without consequence. So, yeah, I am quaint. It beats being delusional. It's really tragic how Bush supporters don't seem to fathom that Bush's policies did so much to push Iran to Islamist fundamentalism and away from the very thing he says he supports; democracy.

As a fellow New Yorker, TCR, I whole-heartedly agree with this post.

Wow, a liberal agreeing with a conservative on something. Go figure! (I agree with you more often than not.)

Here is something that struck me funny. This woman claims she is a bank loan officer. She is one cool cucumber if you asked me for a bank loan officer, here is what she claimed she said to Muhaammed Attah in her ABC interview when Attah said "What stops me from coming behind that desk and cutting your throat and taking the money".Her response JOHNELLE BRYANT: "Coming behind your desk and cutting your throat and making, and making off with all the cash in that safe because you don't have any security in your office." And so I told him, "No, there's no cash in, in the safe, number one. And I told him number two, my, my training would prevent him from coming behind the desk and cutting my throat."
