Every time I listen to a Bush speech, and I confess I turn the volume down to the point of inaudibility with increasing frequency these days in an attempt to improve my temper, I am reminded of a quote by George Orwell (from 'In Front of Your Nose'): "We are all capable of believing things which we know to be untrue, and then, when we are finally proved wrong, impudently twisting the facts so as to show that we were right. Intellectually, it is possible to carry on this process for an indefinite time: the only check on it is that sooner or later a false belief bumps up against solid reality, usually on a battlefield."
My favourite remark: "Setting a deadline for withdrawal is setting a date for failure". Because it just isn't a failure until you've marked it on your planner.
I'm really afraid,(dispite the polls), that somehow I (we)are in a small isolated minority, and the son of a bitch is successfully fooling the rest of the American public.
Over the last couple weeks there has been an increase in the comments by republicans about the welfare of our troops. How is it that the welfare of our troops out-weigh the welfare of our country as a whole? How is it that the welfare of those in Iraq out-weighs the welfare of those in New Orleans?

Please God I am just politically shell shocked.
All the best.

Republican do not give a damm about the troops.
Just look at the Walter Reed scandel, and all the other horror stories that wounded vets can tell you.
So long as a portion of the youn buy that patiotic crap and allow themselves to become cannonfutter the GOP will continue their merry way.
