Not In Their Name
Bush gets an unwelcome surprise at what should have been a standard photo op. Apparently it's not all Paris and Playstation out there in our schools.
Somewhere, Sophie Scholl is smiling.

Bush to Rove after the presentation: "How'd those evil-do-ers- get into my white house?"
They must have gotten around Cheney's review.
How apt, the Sophie analogy. Thank you. This is a 'keeper'
I'm a guitarist in a band that doesn't have a political slant. So wearing shirts that blatantly trash Bush & Co. wouldn't really work. (I play in a No Doubt Tribute Band.) I've been wondering how to protest in a way that was somewhat suble.
For a recent gig, I wrote in marker on my pickguard, ITMFA. I felt good as I know I was making a statemnt, but also knew that only a few people in the crowd would get it. Which with our audience is ok.
But the story of Sophie Scholl and her brother really inspires me, even moreso because my fiancee's family was directly affected by Hitler and Stalin's actions. So I think my next form of protest from stage will take a page from them. 'm buying a new guitar and I have asked my fiancee to paint white roses on it. I will also ask her to add the words, "We Will Not Be Silent!" (taken from their pamphlets.) as well. (If I can fit it, I will use the full quote of "We will not be silent. We are your bad conscience. The White Rose will not leave you in peace!"
Again, like the ITMFA, only those who know what it means will get it. And to those who ask, I'll tell them to go look it up, they need to study their history so they won't repeat it.
Oh, and TCR, I'll be playing the Lion's Den on Sullivan, between Bleecker and 3rd, on Aug. 31st. If you'd like to go to the show, let me know, I'll make sure that you and a guest are on the guest list.
I really like this kind of things,I know that this can be good because many play stations are using this system...
