The JaKoGerm Model

I researched JapanKoreaGermany for any evidence of incidents like this. Strangely, I found none.

I suggested the collected works of Laurie Myrolie. You are sure to find what you are looking for in there.

McCain has exhibited time and time again that he hasn't a clue about what's going on over in Iraq and Iran. I've had more than enough of that level of cluelessness in the past 7+ years to last a lifetime. McSame is not fit to be president.

Why do we still have troops in Germany and Japan? I can understand UN troops along the border between N and S Korea. But I don't get the reasoning behind bases in countries we should have left 50 years ago.

Cheryl,

We have a treaty with NATO that requires troop presence in Germany as well as Carrier battle groups in the Med.

Yikes - If McCain is the best you Americans can dredge up as a potential leader, as selected by roughly half of your communty, then you and I suppose the rest of us, are screwed.

Troops in other other countries, is about garnering economic benefits, just like in Iraq. Treaties may create some demand, but more usfully an excuse/smoke screen. Regarding Korea, recently read that US nuked Japan not so much to quicken the end of WW2 but more so that Military resources could be diverted to Korea so that it too could be 'invested', as they say in Military speak. The jury's out on that one.
