For The Time Capsule

The latest installment, as reported by the AP:
At $25,000 per minute, advice from Donald Trump doesn't come cheap.

That didn't stop thousands of fans from attending a Sunday lecture by the real estate mogul, who received $1.5 million for the hour-long speech.

Trump, star of NBC's "The Apprentice," urged listeners to be aggressive and remain suspicious of advisers.

"When somebody challenges you, fight back," he said, according to published reports. "Be brutal, be tough, just go get them."

Aspiring dealmakers should work with others while maintaining a competitive edge, he told the crowd at the Learning Annex event, which cost between $100 and $500 per ticket.
Think about the specific periods over the past twenty years in which society has accorded Donald Trump iconic status. There have been three: the mid to late 1980's, the late 90's and now. What are some of the words one might use to describe corporate ethics and social mores during those periods? And have peaks in Trump's popularity marked a good or a bad time to invest in stocks and real estate?

"The illusion has become real. And the more real it becomes, the more desperately they want it."

-Gordon Gekko, Wall Street

Someone once told me, "cream doesn't always rise to the top", and that is so applicable in many areas.

AFI on Bravo showed the top film quotes recently and there was one from Wall Street Week. Oliver Stone at his best they say, unbridled capitalism oh yeh. Actually my favorite quotes came from "Trading Places" and "Boiler Room".

Barbra Walters told the story of Greenspan (she dated in the 70's). She wanted to buy an apartment for $250k in Jackie Kennedy's building. Greenspan said it would be a bad investment. Today the apartment goes for $20M. HHHhhhmmm, so a Fed Chairman might be bad for the health of your retirment account ;-)

There is suppose to be a story about Trump in his book where he writes that he doesn't know why he married Marla Maples. He says he was bored when she was walking down the aisle and kept thinking what the hell he was doing there. It was also funny, a little odd too, to see Trump and Oprah talk about buying mutual funds or something other than a bank account, on the Oprah show --- clearly not their area of expertise.

Burt Wolf has a cooking probram on PBS. Recently he was in Yukon,Canada and was shown a picture of a small village from years ago. He pointed to one of the hotels and restaurant and said that was Donald Trumps' grandfathers' place. When the local economy dried up, he put the hotel on a barge and floated it to another location to start business over. I actually thought that story was more interesting than the Donalds' today.

I still can't believe there is a Trump University!

Trump clearly is a product of our time who made it on inherited money. It isn't always what you know, but what you show. He is his own great ad man, showing up everywhere even board games, commercials, and Soaps. He does x-marketing constantly. "What's he really worth".

Middled-aged white men pay $15,000 to play a game of baseball with Michael Jordan. At least he has a proven history, but that is a lot of dough.

I knew a cattleman once like Trump. He inherited a large ranch and made big bucks-- for a while then he got too full of himself and eventually went belly-up. If the figures I read are real, then D.T. doesn't have a lot of time until his empire crumbles. I hope he doesn't because his "Apprentice" show really gives the nation a picture of what immature and back-biting people can do to each other when offered a huge salary.

Mold has taken hold! Not that the microbes have reached out and grabbed us, but rather they have captured our attention. A rash of recent high profile media stories have petrified many people with concerns for both their health and finances. While it is true in some situations that variations and concentrations of mold can kill us both physically and financially, in the vast majority of cases mold problems can be remedied simply and economically. black mold exposure http://moldnhouse.com/household-mold.html
