The Adults Speak Up

WFB weighs in on Plamegate here.

That sound you hear is people shifting uncomfortably in their seats at the magazine he founded.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm not of his kind, but I dig his vocabulary.

I'm so sick of these idiots hyping the amount of prison time involved should Libby be convicted. There are five felony charges. If convicted on all counts, the sentences would run concurrently, not consecutively. Applying federal sentencing guidelines to the mix, and the most the man would face -- tops -- would be THREE YEARS or so. So what's with all this hysterical talk about a life sentence?

Oh, I forgot. According to the wingers, Libby is a poor innocent lamb who is just protecting his boss. No harm, no foul. I listened to Deborah Orin yesterday opine on how Fitzgerald found no evidence of a crime until I thought I would gag.

I wonder what the conservatives would have to say if this were a democratic president?

I get what Buckley said...but what does "immanantize the eschaton" mean? Just curious.

In Roman Catholicism, to immanentize the eschaton is the heresy of trying to bring about the eschaton (the end of days, see eschatology) in the immanent (material) world. More recently, it has been used by conservatives as pejorative against what they perceive as utopian schemes, such as socialism, communism, etc. The phrase has also been much used by Discordians, and is cited in the Principia Discordia. It has also been used by evangelical Chriatians, and by their critics, as well as in discussions of Gnosticism.

Dear Anonymous: Thank you for the definition. I've noticed the Christian right seems to want to bring about the end of the world. How is it that such a minority has been given such weight in matters of policy?
