This isn't necesarily against 'anonymous' above, but to the attitude in general. This is completely your GOP. How many times have you written or called your elected GOP rep and told them how much this upsets you? Unless you are doing that weekly, you own this. You enabled it. You accepted it when Bush savaged McCain in South Carolina in 2000. You bought into it when Bush prevailed in 2000. You thanked God for it when Bush climbed atop a mass grave with a bullhorn in September of 2001. You reveled in it when the Swift Boat Veterans raped the truth about Kerry in 2004. You have celebrated it as Bush and his administration rode rough-shod over truth, justice and the American way every day since January of 2000. You eagerly accepted your $600 tax rebate, and more as we lowered taxes while increasing spending. This is yours, bought and paid for with our childrens blood and treasure. May whatever God you pray to have mercy on your souls.
I hope the Democrats withhold their vote en bloc from the resolution. It's not an honest proposal by the Republicans, the Democrats should refuse to vote on it.
What I fear most in all this is the damage Repubs are doing to themselves. Attacks like the one on Murtha are not easily forgotten, especially since it is the latest in a string of Swift-Boatings. As a Repub, the last thing I want is to see my party become known as disparagers of the values Murtha represents.
Peter, "your party" has been known as disparagers since Richard Clarke and Paul O'Neill.

Agree with TCR that Schmidt's comments were vile and representative of the total absence of shamlessness in DC and our broader society.
Why get upset over a few words when the GOP led army tortures people and even unto death, uses chemicals weapons to kill Iraqi civilians by the hundered, maybe by the thousands. And you get upset because of a few words that have been used be different Republicans to savage anyone that does not go along with their dear leader's agenda for the last 5 years.
GIVE ME A BREAK.
It seems the current GOP makes a habit out of degrading current and former military personnel; and politicizing our military --- What! A purple heart? Cough. Cough. You don't deserve no stink'n metal. You just dodged a bullet to save a fellow comrade. I'll show you courage. Ho hum, that's our party.
Anyone catch what Limbaugh is doing. He is calling for a 'support your troops'/'adopt a soldier' by giving him $50, yes him, and he'll give a military person access to his premium content and a qrtly newsletter. I think it would be better to give the $50 to USO or Operation Truth.
It is really disgraceful. I thought it would be decades before these soldiers that have fought in Iraq would be political fodder like Kerry.
