Abandoning All Pretense Now....
Shorter Stanley Kurtz: Vote Republican in the midterms, or American cities will be destroyed by Iranian nuclear weapons.

Pathetic.
Democrats aren't going to appease Iran. If there's actually some credible evidence that Iran is suddenly going to go nuclear, they'll take action. I've yet to hear any credible source say that they're less than 10 years away.
People are fed up with how this admin puffed up some very weak evidence (I watched Powell's presentation about Iraq WMD to the UN. It was weak.) to make Iraq look like a threat and it wasn't. We're still there years later and the country is on the verge of civil war. The majority of Americans see this as an incompetently managed affair and want our troops out of there. The disagreement lies in when.
Unless things significantly improve, incumbents from both parties are going to be voted out in November.
TCR,
Had to double check the domain address... his rant reads like satire from Onion.
Reminds me of South Park's "Vote or Die" spoof. Now it's "Vote Republican or Die".
Unbelievable. This really is becoming the company line for the GOP:
If only those lilly-livered Dems (i.e., half the nation!) weren't tying George's hands, we could go in and end this thing.
What a buncha' f**kers.
but wait there's more

Looks like there's a bonus in store for Brigadier General Michael Barbero. Maybe even the Medal of Freedom.

The neocons are so, so angry that Bernard Lewis's Enquirer-style "Hidden Prophet Will Carry Iran's Secret Nuke!!!" prediction didn't come true yesterday. Once more, they have been aroused by an exciting, engrossing fantasy that ends up as yet another damp stain on the bedsheets. -- Anne Laurie
If the Republican party were an investment and we were tracking the performance and monitoring their ethics, the trend is pretty ugly.
There has to be good, intelligent, thoughtful leadership some place, in some party, right... this is American with the greatest resources and talent.
ALOHA !!
Stanley Kurtz posted:
"Politics is the answer. Politics constrains us, and politics alone will free us. The Republicans must not lose this election."
How unconstitutional ... Politics and politicans are precisely the "problem" and have been for 100 years! Neither of the two party aristocracy has a clue and neither differ.
What self respecting suicide nuclear bomber gives a crap which of the two parties is in power? They tried to blow up the WTC on Clinton's watch and they succeeded on Bush #2's watch. Both parties allowed a major financial center to be blown up killing people. With that track record why vote either of these two parties back in office?
That's just the "terror issue" I haven't even touched on the multitude of other failures these two parties have created ... like the US Dollar and the US debt for starters!
REWARD THEIR PERFORMANCE AND VOTE THEM ALL OUT !!!
"the horror, the horror"
Kurtz,
Explain to us please how Iran, a signatory to the Non Proliferation Treaty and currently in compliance with said treaty, is such a threat while Inda who refuses to sign the non proliferation treaty and would be in violation of it today if it had is no big deal.
Mutually assured destruction.
Any state or group that uses nukes against another garantee's that it will become a nuclear wasteland. Even us here in the US.
MAD has held the peace since the 50's. It'll continue to hold that part of the peace long after we're all gone.
Nukes are very powerful bombs, but they are better saber rattlers than weapons as you can't use 'em.
Nukes are very powerful bombs, but they are better saber rattlers than weapons as you can't use 'em.
The real danger with nukes isn't that they'll be used by a nation. It's that they'll be obtained by some whacko group who doesn't care how many they kill. The problem is that it's tough to nail down these groups.
In terms of fear of a nation, I'm much more worried about North Korea. Iran has money rolling in from oil. North Korea is destitute. That makes them highly motivated to sell a nuke if somebody brings enough cash.
He must have misspoke. It should be "Vote Republican in the midterms, and American cities will be destroyed by Iranian nuclear weapons."
think its time for a bit of 'bird flu' now coz the world bank is making some sounds about it on indonesia...some bird flu stocks have started moving off their lows...it would be interesting to see after the possible 'pandemic' who is left holding the patents to the producing 'safely' the worlds cheapest source of protein...
Vote Republican in the midterms, or American cities will be destroyed by Iranian nuclear weapons.
There's two ways to test that theory, but it's harder to prove a negative, so the only scientific alternative is to vote Democratic and see what happens!
So don’t sit there and mope. Get out and vote. Yes, we are paralyzed right now.
C.R., I haven't been around much lately. Is is true? Are you sitting and moping?
You should be. Conservatives have made a royal mess of this country in less than six years.
I hope you stay paralyzed so you can't cause any more trouble for the next two years.
Perhaps I'm being naïve, but there was nothing in Ahmedinijad's 8-page letter to Bush that even remotely suggested plans for Iranian aggression against the United States. To the contrary, the document seemed an appeal to brotherhood and understanding.
Perhaps that's the threat that has Kurtz all bunched up.
Mr. Bowes,
Where can I (we) read that 8 page letter from Iran's President?
spider, google 'iran president letter to bush text' and you,ll have it. lemonde were one of the few who put it up... at least if bush/bolty nuke iran, the future has a chance of knowing this letter was ignored...
spider, it starts at http://edition.cnn.com/interactive/world/0605/transcript.lemonde.letter/index.html
Apologies for not referencing the URL with my original post.
As I've said before, it's sad how low NR has sunk... And even the disaster of the Iraq War may not cause them to turn back much, towards traditionalist conservatism.
In current political circumstances, we lack a credible threat of force
Gee, I wonder who was in charge while that happened?
Guess the only answer is to double down with the morons that got us here...
And now we have to stay in Iraq to prove Bush wasn't a failure.
