A New "New Pearl Harbor"
More, ominously, from Ledeen:
The reference to "yet another Pearl Harbor," of course, recalls this well-worn snippet from the PNAC report in 2000 titled "Rebuilding America's Defenses":
What did you expect? They have Syran on their borders, and we have not demonstrated the capacity to win the war."Syran" is Michael's new term for the countries formerly known as Syria and Iran---united in evil against us, and thus deserving now of only one name. (Unfetters the mind and clarifies things nicely!)
Perhaps that will change without yet another Pearl Harbor.
The reference to "yet another Pearl Harbor," of course, recalls this well-worn snippet from the PNAC report in 2000 titled "Rebuilding America's Defenses":
Further, the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event -- like a new Pearl Harbor. Is it just me, or have we reached the point at which calamities like "new Pearl Harbors"---instead of dreaded---are awaited by a Raptured-up few as wake-up calls for the somnolent masses who "just don't get it"?

So what in the world do you think the "original" Pearl Harbor was?
These people really are unreal. Apart from the devastation it would bring, I dread another 9/11 even more for the utter political ruin it would bring on our country thanks to these people. I have no doubt the "nuke Mecca" voices would become deafening in the event we are hit with another terrorist attack.
Meanwhile, you have Bush saying things like "we don't want to stop just for the sake of stopping" in reference to the Israel-Lebanon conflict. Because, apparently, stopping the deaths of innocents is not a worthwhile goal in and of itself. Unreal, except that it is all too damn real.
These guys are such wackos.
But they are influential wackos.
I completely agree with anonymous two above.
America's soul is now seriously compromised. I don't think it can ever be restored to where it used to be, at least not in the eyes of the world. That's going to take a lot more than P.R. campaigns.
Antonie,
I think anonymous 2:32 PM may have hit on a perfect analogy. I used to feel like I was very lucky to live in the USA; kind of like living in the best house on the block. Now it seems like the whole place is infested with termites and cockroaches and needs to be tented and fumigated.
There's a fascinating romanticism in this "Pearl Harbor mobilization" theory, much akin to the syndico-anarchist notion that a dramatic action against a metastable system could produce revolutionary consciousness.
Left unsaid, of course, is that for Ledeen and his ilk, the "new Pearl Harbor" of 9/11 was an opportunity, not a tragedy. Fuel for consipiracy theorists..... (who may rightfully wonder what "new Pearl Harbor" or "new 9/11" will happen as an excuse to wage yet another war).
A "new peral harbor" also means its time to for a "new Hiroshima" in Iran.

The guy is totally just, and there is no question.
That's all wrong the thing you are saying.
I absolutely tie in with anything you've written.
I didn't know that they changed those two countries name to make only one with a different name.
