Intervention Desperately Needed

I'd say this post from Kathryn Lopez sums up nicely the current state of intellectual rigor on the Titular Right (misspelling included):
I Know It's Very Far from Scientific... [Kathryn Jean Lopez]

...but readers keep pointing out it was snowing in Washington, D.C. and New York, among other places, this week. Makes An Inconvenient Truth on cable a tad unconvincing to the average person. So word harder, Al. Or something.
Compelling stuff. Who is backing NRO financially these days, and when do they step in?

She should have stopped at "I know it's very far from scientific..."

or, perhaps KJL could begin each of her essays (if by "essay" you mean Karl Rove's Batman and Robin theme bedsheet soaked in the cerebrospinal fluid of small woodland animals that have been freshly decapitated"*) with the warning "I know this is very far from rational..." or better, yet,

"I know that the next 42 words will likely cause your ears bleed bright red..."

TCR, I'll say it again, you are my hero for even reading the tripe on those websites. Be careful out there.

*with apologies to the Rude Pundit.

Financially backing them? Sciafe? Or another right-wing type maybe? As far as when they step in, it reminds me of a quote I heard when the Wrigley family owned the Chicago Cubs. Phil Wrigley told the Cubs G.M., "I don't care if you make money, but you better not lose money". The point being he made his money elsewhere and the Cubs were like a toy. As long as you don't lose money, things will be okay. I have that feeling about NRO.

For what it's worth, I think Lopez intended her "So word harder, Al. Or something." She wants you to know she's hip and droll.

Well, see, she got a little nervous when it was eighty degrees last November, but now that it is snowing in April it becomes obvious that we really don't have anything to worry about with that whole climate thingamy.

Earth to Lopez. Don't be so daft. If you'd read anything substantive about climate change, you'd know that wide fluctuations in weather (as opposed to climate), is one of the predicted symptoms.

But then, what do you expect from dunderheads like her?

David: It's not about her, it is about what we expect from her Boss, her Editor, some adult at NRO to enforce some standards.
