British security sources tell NBC News that two of the five suspects in custody in connection with three recent terror incidents in Scotland and London are medical doctors and one may have assembled the bombs. Authorities also said they believe that most, if not all, of the suspects come from Middle Eastern countries, including one from Iraq.Unless I've missed something, this is the first time an Iraqi has been suspected of terrorism in the West since the invasion. What's his background? Did he lose family or relatives in the violence there? Did British participation in the occupation motivate him? It will be interesting to find out more, unless the authorities make it easy for everyone and put this in the self-explanatory file marked "Al Qaeda."

I have been staying with a relative who just had surgery, and unfortunately, she is a FoxNews victim, so I have been subjected to the non-stop terror update since Saturday.
They are going to use this thing to justify everything from bigger "fences" along the Mexico border to boosting the surge. It's a pretty horrifying spectacle. CNN isn't much better.
Can the TCR Community help me out here? I am having trouble finding _any_ reference to an Iraqi citizen engaging in a terror attack against a Western target before today, before the 2003 invasion, if you don't count Israel. (Yes, terror against Israel is a horrible thing, but the idea that US interests are always identical to Israel's is very problematic.) Before the invasion, there were Iraqis in Hamas and Hizbolla, apparently, but were the Iraqis any kind of factor in terrorism against US or European targets?
Wendyo, my parents are Fox news victims as well, and it's interesting how neatly the whole package ties up: the fact that terrorists might sneak into our countries as refugees is now the perfect excuse for demanding that Iraqis stay put in their war-torn country, rather than the West take any responsibility nor show any charity for the fact that we bombed and embargoed the hell out of their infrastructure continuously for almost two decades. You stay on your side of the border, and we Westerners will very charitably agree not to immigrate to Iraq. Problem solved!

It's been discussed on some blogs that not only does it seem that nobody from Iraq is involved in an terrorist plot, but even any MENTION of Iraq by terrorists is suppressed by the Bush administration.
So, basically, this administration wants us to believe that Iraq provides no motivation for terrorists who wish to attack us? Uh, huh. Riiiiiiggggghhhhht.
More than likely, it's Hezbollah via IRAN!!
