"Trusted Lieutenant" Watch, With An Added Twist!

The latest addition, courtesy of Centcom (my bolds):
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

COALTION FORCES IDENTIFY CAPTURED TERRORIST

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Coalition forces acting on multiple intelligence sources and tips from concerned citizens raided a suspected al Qaeda in Iraq terrorist safe house in Baghdad Oct. 31 capturing an al Qaeda in Iraq terrorist named Uthman Faruq Muhammad Abd-al-Hamid (aka Abu Ibrahim). Abu Ibrahim was a technology expert, advisor and supplier to al Qaeda in Iraq terrorists and leaders in Baghdad.

Abu Ibrahim was a computer store owner, a programmer and part owner in an engineering company in Baghdad. Abu Ibrahim admits he supplied hundreds of triggering devices for improvised explosive devices, as well as other technology items, to the al Qaeda in Iraq military commander in Baghdad on multiple occasions. These items include hand-held radios, cellular telephones, wireless telephones, computers, software and computer parts and electronic components.

Abu Ibrahim was also associated with the al Qaeda in Iraq Baghdad propaganda cell. He provided his expertise in the procurement of video equipment, video editing equipment, and computer programs. He was directly connected to the al Qaeda in Iraq propaganda emir and well as other senior terrorists such as Dr. Muhsin, who was detained in June.

Abu Ibrahim also admits to being connected to Abu Hassen who was detained last month. Abu Ibrahim provided Abu Hassen with computers and software to make false identifications. Abu Hassen admitted to making false weapons permits, identification cards and press credentials for various al Qaeda in Iraq terrorists as well as the senior al Qaeda in Iraq terrorist leadership in Baghdad.

These identifications would be used by terrorists to conceal their true identities if stopped by Iraqi Security and Coalition forces. The forgeries also provided a way to openly carry weapons while conducting terrorist activities. These activities could include attacks, kidnappings, and murders. The false identifications would also provide a means of entry as media representatives to various events to reconnoiter them for potential terrorist attacks.
Those not already doing so might want to start reading these peripheral communications: Pentagon and White House press releases, Centcom updates, etc. They provide glimpses into policy that are often fascinating for their ham-handed propaganda (note the "tips from concerned citizens" in the press release) and overt desperation. It may be counterintuitive, but I've found the written word can betray a deceptive agenda or conscious falsity far more effectively than the spoken one, particularly when the pen is held by a bureaucrat or someone in uniform.

As for the above, via sheer head-slamming repetition you will believe that the same group that attacked us on 9/11 is our enemy in Iraq---not insurgents, not mere terrorists, but al Qaeda in Iraq terrorists. And as long as that's the case, what made you think we would ever leave?

Bin Laden's most trusted lieutenant probably doesn't even realize his lofty rank in AQ. Who? The man who most advances AQ's cause of course---George W. Bush.

Superb point, TCR. They are trying to convey a sense we are dealing with petty criminals who can be rehabilitated through conventional criminal justice methods. The reality is we're dealing with a generation brought up on hatred and violence towards "infidels" who cannot be reached by any sort of thought "re-training."

True, but as much as domestic support for 'staying the course' has dwindled, Iraqi support is far lower. To the point where the elected Iraqi government has now asked for a withdraw timetable. I do believe that just before the first set of Iraqi elections went off Bush promised to leave if the Iraqis asked. We know that Bush has broken many promises already (Restore integrity to the Presidency, exercise fiscal restraint, no nation building; well I guess he did keep that last one) but will he keep this promise? http://www.nytimes.com/2005/11/21/international/middleeast/21cnd-arab.html?ex=1133240400&en=de58ffed10aea111&ei=5009&partner=MSN_NYTHOME

As we gather over the next several days for Thanksgiving, we now have the news that the United States has lost at least 2100 men and women fighting George W. Bush's war of choice in Iraq.

"Ten days after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, President Bush was told in a highly classified briefing that the U.S. intelligence community had no evidence linking the Iraqi regime of Saddam Hussein to the attacks and that there was scant credible evidence that Iraq had any significant collaborative ties with Al Qaeda, according to government records and current and former officials with firsthand knowledge of the matter."

The first line of Murray Waas' piece in National Journal.

It's time to impeach George Bush.

Iraq war may go for decades: report
November 23, 2005

"The Oxford Research Group non-governmental organisation, which assesses constructive approaches to dealing with international terrorism and the "war on terror", says the war in Iraq is only in its early stages. "Given that the al-Qaeda movement and its affiliates are seeking to achieve their aims over a period of decades rather than years, the probability is that, short of major political changes in the USA, the Iraq war might well be measured over a similar time span," the report concludes.

It says the presence of coalition troops in Iraq since the March 2003 US-led invasion has been a "gift" to Osama bin Laden's Al-Qaeda."

The average joe is only guessing why we are in Iraq in the first place, there certainly are a number of reasons given and God knows we'll never get an honest answer from this administration. Knowing Cheney, I hardly think this is a humanitarian mission - say whatever it takes. He's a chicken-hawk oil exec at heart and has given speeches on peak oil. For Cheney, its oil and dominance over world nature resources. Bush, well, he's the puppet and because of his lack of active interest in topics he is easily manipulated. Its too bad we had to lose our soul and our own Democracy silenced and bastardized, with the torture, lies to cover up the lies, and dirty bombs, cluster bombs, chemical weapons. :-(

If we are serious about Iraq and democracy, why not let the Iraqi have a referendum and vote. I think we'll find those Iraqi's willing to fight for their country want us out, those that don't want to fight a battle don't. Let's face it, Iraq is having its civil war and we lit the fuse. Boy, when you look back at what Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Wolfowitz... said back about being greated as liberators, it'll be short - 6 mths, they are in their last throes, etc., etc., you gotta wonder what kind of homework did they do on Iraq, or was the homework just on manipulating us :-(

Many often repeat that Iraq was not involved in 9-11, very true. But also very different than Iraq not being involved in terrorism. Saddam admittedly upped the payoff for Palestinian suicide bombers after 9-11. (-11 was not the first time we were attacked by radical ismlamic elements, those other attacks were not all from Al Qaeda but rahter from many loose knit terror operations. It is silly to claim that a Middle East dictator has no involvement or no effect on terrorism. The lack of political freedom is directly related to terrorism.

Good thinking, Roy! The real reason we invaded Iraq, have lost over 2100 men and women doing so and spent over $200 billion in the process was... to keep Saddam from paying for Palestinian suicide bombers. Gosh, I'd been wondering, now I know.

Enough rope,
First, Saddam was supporting Palestinian terrorism and by doing so furhter destablizing the Middle East. As long as the Palestine and Israel issue is cleared up the region will be a mess.

Second, The sanctions against Saddam were ineffective and all but finished. He was not living up to the cease fire agreement he signed after Desert Storm. He was a threat to fuel islamic terrorism, when off of his sanctions.

Best case scenario was he would continue to destablize the Middle East.

Good on President Bush and Attorney General Gonzales. Credit where credit is due.

Credit for what? Doing what they should have done three years ago?

If we cared about the troops, why do we let our leaders treat them in this manner!

All that bickering the last couple of weeks by Cheney and Bush turns out to be political posturing for the 2006 election. Talk about using the troops as political toys. Cheney couldn't use enough adjectives to condemn those that would even debate the pullout of the troops Wow!

Bush To Lay The Groundwork For Precipitous Withdrawal From Iraq Next Wednesday

Vice President Cheney, 11/21/05:

A precipitous withdrawal from Iraq would be a victory for the terrorists, an invitation to further violence against free nations, and a terrible blow to the future security of the United States of America.

LA Times, 11/26/05:

President Bush will give a major speech Wednesday at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., in which aides say he is expected to herald the improved readiness of Iraqi troops, which he has identified as the key condition for pulling out U.S. forces…The developments seemed to lay the groundwork for potentially large withdrawals in 2006 and 2007…

So are Cheney's recent attacks on war critics the equivalent of bombing Cambodia to cover the planned removal of 40,000 US troops from Iraq next year?

This kind of politcal manipulation of our troops and silencing debate should be disturbing to anyone's ethical sensibilities.

I've just recently bought Mt4 Protect and wanted to tell you guys about my experience with it.
I was worried about all the MT4 virus's out there at the moment as I heard you can get them from downloading Expert Advisors from the web.
While I don't download decompiled expert advisors the last thing I want is some hacker getting my account details and draining my trading account as I have built it up into quite a bit of $$$. That's why I purchased MT4 protect so it can stop my account from getting attacked. I think the price is well worth the protection I will receive
I bought a copy at http://www.mt4protect.com/ via paypal and my product code was sent to me within 4 hours.
I installed it and its great It works in the system tray and scans my computer in real time to detect any attacks.
The EA optimization tool is so great - you can allocate more memory to your MT4 terminal so your trades get executed faster! There are also heaps of registry tweaks and cleanup features that have turbocharged up my Windows XP computer.
With Trojans and virus attacks hitting Forex traders all the time now I definitely think that MT4 Protect is a worthwhile investment.
