I think it is indicative of the commonness of violence in Baghdad that al Maliki barely reacted to the blast. "Oh, that? Yeah, that happens all the time..."
And speaking of the surge working, I think Bill Maher put it best when he said that the surge is working in the same way that a guy stops beating his wife when the cops show up.
